Summary: This role provides leadership and management of all Quality related processes, ensuring these processes are aligned with the strategic direction and annual goals of the organization.


Experience:

  • Community College courses in Quality related discipline
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years' experience in similar role
  • Class A experience is an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Proficient in the understanding and use of Statistical process control (SPC), Welding, Stamping and Assembly processes
  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment (i.e. venires, micrometer, height gauges, profile projector, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • High level of time management
  • Prior experience with ISO/IATF 16949
  • Experience with PPAP / APQP Processes
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate CFT meetings
  • Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both written and verbal, in all types of situations
  • Ability to review, identify and accept / reject parts based on customer specifications, specifically appearance standards
  • Ability to understand all areas of QA department and to act as temporary manager when needed (Inspection, customer concerns and decision making)
  • Ability to mentor / teach fellow QEs and upcoming QEs to the process and procedures

Functions:

  • Responsible for trouble shooting root cause analysis, data analysis, implementation and maintain up to date documentations in problem solving process
  • Manage PPAP and ensure that PPAP submissions are professional, thorough, on time and acceptable
  • Manage all inspection functions of the Quality Assurance Department
  • Lead and train all individuals associated with the ISO-9001 quality system
  • Works on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) with cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing components to meet critical customer deadlines
  • Conduct and where necessary, lead in the improvement of capability studies and gauge R & R analysis
  • Create quality documents in compliance with the company's quality system manual and quality system standards (control plan, inspection records, etc.)
  • Participate and coordinate the Team Oriented Problem Solving (corrective and preventive actions)
  • Coordinate and responsible for PPAP submissions within specified timeframe
  • Understanding GD&T of Fixtures operation and design and participate on gauge design to ensure all customer and internal specifications are met
  • Review and make recommendations for the disposition of non-conforming/suspect products in a timely manner and ensure formal corrective actions are answered within customers guidelines
  • Contribute and assist in variability reduction, process improvement and continuous improvement
  • Participate in the internal auditing function as per the annual internal quality auditing schedule.
  • Daily manage and monitor all floor and customer metrics.
  • Participate in monthly employee meetings, safety talks
  • Conduct employee training
  • Correct substandard acts or conditions
  • Contribute and participate in the Quality System and the Environmental System to meet customer requirements and the international standards
  • Maintain SPC charts and ensure that SPC points are within capability range or initiate action to bring back into range
  • Contribute to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, safety concerns, unsuitability of standard material and difficult coordination requirements
  • Coordinate project activities with other department's personnel to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion
  • Review project related documentation to ensure its accuracy
  • Ensure time management is executed in the completion of all projects/ duties
  • Assist with the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing quality system requirements
  • Track customer satisfaction measurable and communicate to appropriate personnel and/or management
  • Daily review of production process for compliance and opportunities
  • Work with and mentor Quality Techs as required
  • Customer Visit - Visit customer locations for the purpose of building relationships, resolving problems and understanding the use of our parts to be able to make intelligent production problems.
  • Corporate process - know what and where to find the procedures / process and ensure compliance where applicable
  • Demonstrate 5S Methodology in your work area
  • Identify, suggest and participate in the continuous improvement of process when required

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28)
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems, HR policies and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Must work in accordance with H&S regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear PPE and certain clothing as required by the Company and while visiting other locations

Work Conditions:

  • 60% Office environment, 40% Plant floor (PPE required)
  • Constant communication with employees, peers and management
  • Overtime as required
  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less
