Salary: $38.00 CAD - $40.00 CAD per hour depending on experience

Benefits: 3 weeks of paid vacation per year in accordance with provincial employment standards and company policy. Eligible for health and dental benefits in accordance with company policy.

Duties and responsibilities

The Press Tech Lead will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and oversee stamping press line operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of metal components.
  • Schedule daily work activities and coordinate press operations with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to meet production targets and operational requirements.
  • Monitor automated press systems, identify mechanical, tooling, or feed-related issues, and coordinate corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust stamping press equipment using Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot press-related equipment issues and perform minor operational adjustments within established parameters, while escalating complex technical issues to qualified Maintenance or Engineering personnel as required.
  • Oversee and coordinate preventive maintenance activities and mechanical adjustments on stamping press equipment to support continuous production.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train press operators and technicians on safe operating procedures, equipment use, and production best practices.
  • Ensure that standards for safe working conditions are observed at all times, including compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, O.Reg. 851 for Industrial Establishments, and internal safety policies.
  • Enforce established operational procedures, quality standards, and company policies related to press operations, equipment handling, and workplace conduct.
  • Coordinate with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, and Maintenance teams to support the implementation and operation of press equipment and systems within established manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor press equipment performance to identify potential quality issues or production inefficiencies and recommend corrective measures to improve productivity and workflow.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen activities, problem-solving exercises, time studies, and process reviews, to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Maintain accurate production records, preventive maintenance checklists, equipment history logs, and other operational documentation.
  • Prepare production reports and operational summaries for management review as required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook.

This position does not require any provincial license or certification in Ontario.

Qualifications:

 

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of hands-on experience in stamping, metal forming, or manufacturing, combined with prior experience in machining or related processes.
  • Industrial Aptitude: Strong understanding of PLC systems, servo drives, and machine prints.
  • Expertise in PLC Control Systems, including Rockwell, Siemens, and Bosch
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), MS Project, and MS Vision;
  • Advanced Excel skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficient in Operating Systems: Windows, Linux;
  • Talent to work independently and draw from experience with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead a team and work in a team environment, strong coordinating and organizing skills.
  • Ability to follow standardized work instructions and problem solve technical issues.
  • Knowledge of production and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of customer specific requirements and IATF16949 management system.
  • Proficiency in ISO14001 and ISO45001.
