Quality Technician - Job Description

Tiercon Corp. is an automotive supplier committed to the design, manufacture and assembly of quality exterior trim and assembled systems used as original equipment in the automotive market. Headquartered in Stoney Creek, the plants have design, mold, paint, assembly and testing capabilities. Tiercon manages 5 sites across 2 cities employing approximately 550 people throughout Canada. Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Quality Technician at our 591 Arvin Ave. location.

Job Summary & Reporting Structure:

Reporting to the Quality Manager or designate. The Quality Technician is responsible for Auditing and inspecting production processes & parts for proper adherence to pre-assigned quality systems. Communicate Safety, Quality and Delivery issues and develop and report out on Quality of Product using statistical techniques. Be familiar with and practice and promote all aspect of the ISO9001:2015 and IATF 16949 Quality System and Health & Safety policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily preparation and execution of all durability and performance tests on production sample parts as specified by automotive requirements for all lines, recording and reporting results to the team
  • Daily film build analysis and record results; monitor results and report any out-of-spec. situations to the Quality Manager
  • Able to work rotating shifts (Days/Afternoons: 7am-4pm/4pm-1am)
  • Perform line trial testing, PPAP and life cycle testing as required
  • Practice and promote continuous improvement in all areas of Quality and production.
  • Daily datapaq operation and result analysis ensuring the temperature of the ovens are according to the specification
  • Perform Statistical analysis of product and process to drive improvements and reduce scrap.
  • Complete Process Performance Studies, assist with onsite Gauge R & R Studies, Product Capability studies, assist in mark up prints, etc.
  • Complete operator process review for following procedures with report out to QE"s and recommended actions.
  • Assist with the development and review of work instructions and Quality Alerts.
  • Learn how to Coordinate and facilitate APQP's activities and prepare all necessary documentation
  • Complete Process Performance Studies, assist with onsite Gauge R & R Studies, mark up prints, etc.
  • Assist with the completion of Shift Reports
  • Assist with reviewing and completing, document and communicate First Offs and In Process inspection when required
  • Support Overtime Needs for Production and launch activities as needed – back up to assist with Quality Auditors
  • Develop and complete MSA on gauges in accordance with customer specific requirements.
  • Assist QEs with Reviewing Supplier PPAP's when needed
  • Complete special projects, with full reports and submission to management.
  • Review programs for continuous improvement
  • Assist in the initiation and complete Root cause analysis on all verbal and written customer concerns
  • Assist in the development, construction and evaluation of all fixtures and gauges
  • Assist in the maintenance of Quarantine Area (Hold Area)
  • Incoming inspection of supplier components when applicable
  • Develop and maintain all quality records
  • Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager or designate
  • ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 duties as required

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma (Mechanical/Industrial/ Quality or Chemical Engineering, C.Q.T.)
  • PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, and Corrective action process
  • Minimum 1 engineering experience
  • Exposure to injection moulding, painting and assembly
  • Exposure to IATF16949 procedures
  • Experience in computer systems (Windows, Microsoft Office, Macros and Data base)
  • Experience with working with customers such as Ford, GM and Chrysler
