2nd Shift Manual Mig Welder - Job Description


Job Summary: Operate manual MIG welder to produce welded parts in conformance with operation procedures. Checks part dimensions to determine conformance to standard.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years of manual welding experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must pass required manual and written MIG weld qualification test
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have a good knowledge of the English language
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949

 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all weld operations in conformance with Martinrea procedures
  • Adjust welder parameters and gas flow according to part specifications
  • Assure that BOS sheet matches part being manufactured
  • Check to make sure all guards are in place and fixtures are clean
  • Compare first and last piece with gage requirements and boundary samples to determine conformance with standard
  • Produce and pack parts according to the BOS instructions, packing instructions, and/or standard work instructions
  • Perform gage checks and SPC checks as required by part specific requirements
  • Record all data required on BOS sheet in prescribed manner
  • Immediately report nonconforming test results to responsible Weld Assembly Supervisor
  • Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Weld Assembly Supervisor
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  •  
  • Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as weld validation requirements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment:

  • 100% Plant Floor (PPE Required)
