HOP - Tooling Coordinator - Job Description

Job Summary: To purchase all components for tooling. Assist implementation of components. Track and assist in all tooling activities.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and verbal
  • High level of time management
  • Willingness to learn to operate Tool Room equipment
  • Good understanding of International Standards Organization (ISO), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Quality Standards (QS) system
  • Experience in CMS, E-Maint, E-Time
  • Use CAD to purchase die details

Critical Success Factors:

  • Excellent attendance
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction
  • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition

Responsibilities:

  • Track die work order statuses
  • Generate and issue all P.M. work orders in E-Maint
  • Input Work Orders into E-Maint
  • Track tooling downtime
  • Prepare reports; develop trends and history from compiled data
  • Obtain bids for purchasing requests & create requisitions for non-crib items used for the repair and/or support of production tooling
  • Assist the tooling department in maintaining IATF16949/ISO14001 compliance
  • As instructed, coordinate contracted tooling efforts for the plant
  • Basic understanding of the processes and interactions as determined by the leadership team
  • Assist with managing new tooling
  • Attend meetings with customers and suppliers
  • Responsible for purchasing tooling components
  • Track new tooling and engineering changes in North America and Asia
  • Involved in process of strip layout and die design reviews
  • Track tooling improvements that significantly improve first-time quality and eliminate chronic issues with problem tools
  • Participate in process improvement measures (First Time through Initiatives) to reduce scrap and improve efficiency on all tools
  • Follow up with tool shops to correct stamping issues
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerance skills

Working Conditions

  • 60% office, 40% plant floor (PPE required)
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) rules and guidelines
  • Comply, ensure and enforce Workplace Safety Insurance Act (WSIB)
  • Comply, ensure and enforce Workplace hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Comply with all Health and Safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Comply with all Martinrea Company rules, policies, and procedures
  • Proper PPE must be worn at all times in the plant.
  • Be aware of moving lift trucks at all times.
  • All employees are prohibited from working under dies which are suspended from hoists, cranes or forklifts.

Effort/Physical Demands

  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required
