Lean Manufacturing Specialist - Fluids - Job Description
Knowledge and Skills (Education): Deep Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing - Ability to set the lean manufacturing strategy for multiple divisions see the big picture
- Understands why lean manufacturing gives a company a competitive advantage
- Understands external threats to the company
- Understands Company's internal strengths and weaknesses
- Takes both of the above into account when setting lean manufacturing direction
- Knows why it's important to focus on the "Process" side of activities and not just short term results
- Can put together and implement a 3-5 year plan
- Can visualize, teach and implement lean manufacturing strategies
- Understands how lean manufacturing develops people
- Demonstrates strong problem solving skills and can teach others how to problem solve
- Can utilize individual Lean manufacturing tools to eliminate waste
- Has a minimum of 5 years of experience implementing lean manufacturing
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- High level of time management and ability to lead a large organization
- Effective at working with Members of the company at all levels and across all disciplines to negotiate strategies and implement plans for the greater good of the company
Major Accountabilities: - Responsible for aligning Lean Manufacturing Structure with needs of the company and divisions
- Responsible for implementing lean manufacturing concepts to reduce costs and develop people
- Can demonstrate to others on shop floor how to implement lean tools
- Improve the company's overall efficiency; better safety, quality, productivity, cost and development of people
- Link Lean Manufacturing Activities to achieving divisional P&L targets
- Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)
- Report directly to EVP Operations on all lean manufacturing related issues and provide guidance and solutions to address issues promptly and effectively
Working Conditions - Minimum 80% travel required Mexico, USA and Canada, China and Europe
- 50% floor, 50% plant floor (PPE required)

Decision Making and Authority: - Make decisions to improve all aspects of manufacturing; Safety, quality, productivity and cost
Effort/Physical Demands - Excellent communication with executive, management teams, employees and peers
- Overtime as required
Health and Safety Responsibilities - Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures
- Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company
